At first I thought it was a Nathan P5 (somewhat common on NS), but then it sounded like a newer GEVO horn, mixed with a P5........then Amtrak came around the curve. These days, seeing one SD40-2 is fairly rare, but how many times do we get to see two, low light SD40-2's? Pretty rare sight if you ask me. These were switching out Aberdeen (NC) Yard, getting ready to blast off North to Raleigh. The 8049 has had its horn moved to the middle of the long hood, while the 8058 retains its horn on the front of the cab. |

I remember the cook at our fraturnity house at NC State used to operate the train when I was there in the 80's.
